The RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is run by a combination of Air Force Reserve members and dedicated Volunteer staff.

Our volunteers are involved in a range of essential roles such as:

  • leading group tours and passing on interesting facts and stories about the items on display in our four hangars,
  • helping with the creation and updating of key displays and exhibits,
  • conducting research into significant items and past events,
  • cataloguing and stocktaking of the various items within our collection, and
  • assisting with the running of our gift shop and the selling of merchandise to raise funds.

Our main working days are Tuesdays and Thursdays when we are open to the public for pre-booked group tours, and the 3rd Sunday of each month where we have a Public Open Day. Although many of our passionate volunteers work all of these days, we also understand that volunteers may only be able to commit to one day per week.

Volunteers are subject to a 25 day trial period before being issued their uniforms and base access passes. With regular twice-weekly attendance, this works out to an approximate 3 month period.
