Opening Hours

By pre-arranged appointment, we are open Tuesdays and Thursdays to members of the community, including social, tour and school groups (by prior arrangement).

Opening hours are 9am - 3pm. We are not open on Public Holidays.

To enquire about a visit, please fill in the form below and we will advise whether we can accommodate you.

Please be aware that we are a part time organisation and therefore you should request a visit at least a week in advance. If you request a visit at short notice, we may not see your enquiry until the morning of. Your visit is NOT confirmed until you hear from us advising that it is approved.

We hold a public open day on the third Sunday of each month, January - November, except public holidays. Below are the dates for 2021.

Entrance is via the Main Gate of RAAF Base Amberley, which is located on Southern Amberley Road.

Take the Cunningham Highway past the Yamanto exit and continue to the RAAF Base Amberley turn-off to the right.

As there are multiple entry points to access RAAF Base Amberley, please check your GPS is directing you to the correct gate.

Free Admission

Entry to the Heritage Centre is free of charge. Donations are not requested, but gratefully accepted if you were happy with your visited and are able to make a small contribution for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our displays.

Access and Security

RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is located inside the secure zone of RAAF Base Amberley, and therefore your admission to the base will be tightly controlled.

All visitors aged 16 years and over are required to produce photographic identification issued by the Commonwealth or a State authority. Approved Photo IDs are:

  • Australian Drivers Licence
  • Proof Of Age Card
  • Passport (must be used by international visitors)
  • Companion Card
  • Secondary Student ID Card (Under 18 With A Photo)
  • AusPost Digital ID

During busy periods, delays can be expected while security staff positively identify and record all visitors. Please be aware that all children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Visitors are not permitted to walk to the Heritage Centre from RAAF Amberley's main gate. You must enter the base via a motor vehicle or motorcycle.

Visitor facilities

We are located within a historic precinct on the RAAF Base and unfortunately might not have some of the facilities you would normally expect. We do not have:

  • BBQ facilities,
  • secure lockers, or
  • a mother's room

Depending on the needs of pre-booked groups visiting on a Tuesday or Thursday, we may be able to provide a small meeting room and adjoining tea room, however groups must discuss this with us as part of their booking.

Please be aware that smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Centre precinct.

On our Sunday Public Open Days, we have:

  • a mobile coffee vendor, and
  • a small food shop selling sausages, pies, sausage rolls, cold drinks and ice creams.

Visitors with disabilities and limited mobility

We welcome visitors with disabilities and limited mobility at the Heritage Centre.

Please note that assistance animals are allowed on the premises when they are with their handler and valid documentation is provided. No pets are permitted on the Base.

Souvenirs and Gifts

Available at the Heritage Centre’s Gift Shop, by cash or minimum purchase EFTPOS facilities. Sorry, no cash out.
