Access and Security
RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is located inside the secure zone of RAAF Base Amberley, and therefore your admission to the base will be tightly controlled. On arrival at the RAAF Amberley Main Gate, Heritage Centre staff will be present to record your identification details and direct or escort you to the Centre. All visitors aged 16 years and over are required to produce photographic identification issued by the Commonwealth or a State authority.
During busy periods on Public Open Days delays can be expected while security staff positively identify and record all visitors. Please be aware that all children 16 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. It should also be noted that it is not possible to walk to the Heritage Centre from RAAF Amberley's main gate.
Souvenirs and Gifts
Available at the Heritage Centre’s Gift Shop, by cash or minimum purchase EFTPOS facilities. Sorry, no cash out.
Visitors with disabilities and limited mobility
We welcome visitors with disabilities and limited mobility at the Heritage Centre. Please be aware that our normal parking area is approximately 300m from the entrance to the Heritage Centre and requires visitors to walk from the carpark to the entrance.
If this distance is a concern, we have some parking available which is close to the entrance. Upon arrival at the front gate of the Base, please advise our staff of your parking requirements. They will then be able to co-ordinate alternative parking arrangements for you.
Please note that assistance animals are allowed on the premises when they are with their handler and valid documentation is provided. No pets are permitted on the Base.
We are located within a historic precinct on the RAAF Base and unfortunately might not have some of the facilities you would normally expect. We do not have:
- BBQ facilities,
- secure lockers, or
- a mother's room
Depending on the needs of pre-booked groups visiting on a Tuesday or Thursday, we may be able to provide a small meeting room and adjoining tea room, however groups must discuss this with us as part of their booking.
On our Sunday Public Open Days, we have:
- a mobile coffee vendor, and
- a small food shop selling sausages, pies, sausage rolls, cold drinks and ice creams.
