Public Open Days

We are open to the public on the third Sunday of every month (except December and January) between 9am and 3pm, with base access ceasing at 2:30pm sharp. Public Open Day queues can sometimes be long, the easiest and fastest way to access the Base on our open days is to have with you a completed application ready to go and on hand. Driving to the Heritage Centre

We are located within RAAF Base Amberley on Southern Amberley Road.

Brisbane travellers may choose to travel along the Centenary Highway through Yamanto and follow the Cunningham Highway down to the RAAF Base Amberley turn off at Willowbank. Please check Google Maps to plan your route.

Admission

Admission is FREE, however, donations are gratefully accepted.

On arrival at the RAAF Amberley Main Gate, Heritage Centre staff will be present to record your identification details and direct you to the Heritage Centre car park. All visitors aged 16 years and over are required to produce photographic identification issued by the Commonwealth or a State authority.

Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Centre precinct.

Access and Security

Please be advised that the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is located inside the secure zone of RAAF Base Amberley and that your admission to the base will be tightly controlled. During busy periods delays can be expected due to the security requirement to positively identify and record the identity of all visitors. Please be aware that all children 16 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. It should also be noted that it is not possible to walk to the Heritage Centre from RAAF Amberley's main gate. 

Souvenirs and Gifts

Available at the Heritage Centre’s Shop, which now has minimum purchase EFTPOS facilities. Sorry, no cash out.

Disabled Visitors

We welcome disabled visitors at the Heritage Centre and can make special parking arrangements for them. Please note that while assistance animals are allowed on the premises when with their handler and certification, no pets are permitted on the Base.
