Boston Bomber (USAF)
United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Boston light bomber 286786, with a similar aircraft on display at the RAAF Museum, was restored at RAAF Amberley from seven aircraft wrecks recovered from the jungles of New Guinea.
The original aircraft crash-landed in a swamp and sunk beneath the water line.
When recovered, it was in a remarkable, well preserved condition - even to the point that coffee was still sealed in the flask behind the cockpit seat.
